Happy you, happy me!

WOO! :) Now I know what JOY it is to shop for gifts for a special someone :)

(HAHA don't think i don't know what you're thinking...NO it is not for "a special guy in my life". Heh who currently only God knows where he is and when he'll turn up! Ahaha.)

Yea, well last sunday I got myself a shoebox and signed on to be part of Operation Christmas Child. It's an annual project done by the Samaritan's Purse where u get a standard size shoebox, fill it up with gifts for a child and they'll send it to him/her in a 3rd-world/war-torn country, as a tangible way of showing God's love to these kids and sharing about Jesus with them :) Awesome. I'm not sure if singapore has anything like it, but u can go check it out online if u want to be part of it. :) Yup, i wanted to do something different this christmas :D

here's my shoebox!

And so today i went shopping for my Christmas child - my special someone. I prayed the other day for the child who would receive my box, and though i had initially thot of getting stuff for a little boy, after praying i decided on a girl aged 2-4 - I "saw" her in my mind as i prayed n i just knew there's a little girl who needs my box! :)

hehe yup so today i bought her crayons, a sparkly book on learning colours, a toothbrush, pretty tiny little hair-ties i couldn't resist (AAAH i could just imagine her wearing them!), and 3 pieces of clothing (so cool! one t-shirt, one 3/4 pants and one dress came together!). Aww so sad i bought a colouring book too but i overestimated the size of the shoebox n it couldn't fit :( Oh well...maybe one of my little cousins back in sg might like it :)

So yea only one thing left to find to totally fill the box...Something cuddly, a small stuffed toy which i couldn't find today...n i realise what a small gap there is left in the box for that stuffed toy..so sad! i feel like expanding the box! Well anyway, it was awesome, i felt such joy in looking for n buying the stuff today! Like really, it's like i now know what it means to be blessed to be a blessing, for me to be part of sowing into the destiny of this girl who will receive my gift, n who knows? Perhaps becos of this gift, somehow that girl will grow up knowing she is loved by God and by others and she will fulfill such an awesome destiny as a powerful woman of God in the future who will change her community n even nation... :) now THAT's really cool.

happy YOU, happy me! Little girl, i pray you will be filled with the unspeakable joy of the Lord when u open up that box and use the stuff inside. May you grow in beauty and in the love and grace of God and may everything u need be provided for. May you become a blessing to those around you too, that your family and community shall come to know Christ. Amen :)

So yes, bring hope n joy thru simple gifts n acts of service..this need not be done only for "poor" people in 3rd world countries. Right there in your community/city/nation, there are LOADS of ppl who r "poor" n need to know that Jesus cares n is able to heal n provide n give them hope n purpose in their now mundane/struggling lives. Do something, anything. People need the Lord.

Cool stuff! YAy... on a more random note, today i touched a US$600 seed. Yes, u read right, a real expensive SEED. Haha, apparently it's the largest seed in the world, recorded to be about 20kg each - the coco de mer. I assume that means the seed of the sea or something. haha. Well anyway it is a WEIRD looking coconut-like seed, my apologies if it looks wrong in the picture with me n yaojun..that's the way it is!!

Bio lectures have been pretty fascinating this week, we've had a conservation biologist (future me!!) from king's park come to lecture on plants n stuff. I'm so intrigued by the "glowing fungus" that's apparently at king's park n if u go there at night in autumn or something, it glows so bright that u can read newspaper on it! WHOAAA. i want to see!! Haha n king's park is giving orchid kits, so cool! i wanna grow an orchid. haha but dunno if i hav green fingers. probably not. haha. but worth a try i guess!

Okie dokes enuf of my lor-sor-ness. Take care u all! i miss home....can't wait to see u! can u believe it?? It's less than 10 weeks till i come back!!!!!!!!!! *Leaps for joy!*
