down by the highway where the watermelons grow...??

"Life finds a way." So says the man in Jurassic Park whose name i unfortunately never remembered. N how true that statement is!

Have you ever wondered at that little plant growing through the crack in the cement pavement, or the wildflower that seemed to suddenly appear in the (tar) parking lot, or the vine/creeper that somehow manage to get nutrients from a brick wall it's growing on? I know I have! It's like, wow, God, even in the harshest, rock-hard, even most man-made of environments, LIFE finds a way - thru You! Somehow, God's equipped living things (including us by the way!) to be able to survive, even thrive, by adapting to a myriad of different environments. Look around you! There is life everywhere! Some u gotta hav a microscope to see, but the point is, we live on an INCREDIBLE, LIVING planet!! N the crazy spectrum of living things, from the tiniest bacterium to the little plant in the car-park, to the mushrooms under the tree, to your pet dog lazing in the living room now, to the hugeness of an African elephant...Man! Biodiversity - it's awesome!!

So guess what! My aunt and lil' cuz found LIFE in a hard place. Along Roe highway - yes, a full-on ROAD where hundreds of cars whizz by at 100km/h every day - there are WATERMELONS growing in the sandy, rocky gravel beside it!! How'd they get there we don't know. But there are LOADS of them...it's so cool! I've never seen how a watermelon grows, never seen the leaves, the flower that becomes the well-known fruit...so it's was such an exciting thing to see these watermelons growing...by the highway! Had to grab some camera shots - here r some of them :)

Next time u think u're in a hard, harsh, rocky place spoilt by Man, don't give up, don't back down. If God can cause a little plant to grow in a hard place, make it strong n beautiful in time, then He can do the same for u n me.
